Hawaii Travel Tips For A Great Holiday

There is an important added attraction which Hawaii offers. It is conveniently located in the United States. This is good news for those concerned with travel safety since it means that travel to and within Hawaii is often considered more secure. Nevertheless, it is still wise to consider several Hawaii travel tips that will make your Hawaii vacation even better and safer!

Packing For Hawaii

The weather in Hawaii is quite mixed, daytime is warm, and requires light clothing, shorts, swim wear, and light t-shirts, while evenings tend to be cooler. You should consider strategically packing clothes which can be worn in layers. By doing this you will be able to warm up, or cool down, as needed.

Remember that if you are visiting places such as the Haleakala National Park in Maui, or the Volcanoes National Park on the island Hawaii, then you will need to wear sturdy shoes, and dress appropriately for the cooler weather as the parks are at quite a high altitude.

And it goes without saying that you should bring sunscreen and bug spray when traveling to Hawaii, in order to prevent sun damage and diseases spread by mosquitoes.

Staying Safe in Hawaii

As with any popular tourist destination, remember not to leave your luggage unattended or store anything very valuable in the hotel safe, and do not carry large amounts of cash with you, as this may put you at risk of being targeted by pickpockets.

What about the Weather?

Hawaii is a tropical island, and like many other tropical areas, frequent natural disasters such as tsunamis, hurricanes, and windstorms, are common in the area. This is not a need for panic since the weather is always monitored closely. However, if a Civil Defense Warning is issued, you should monitor the radio and television closely, and follow travel tips and instructions provided by the Hawaii officials.
Enjoy Your Stay

A trip to Hawaii is guaranteed to be a memorable one. There are tantalizing sights and sounds that are sure to amaze you and the atmosphere is something you will remember long after you have left the sandy shores of Hawaii. If you pack for the location, and follow some basic safety advice, you will be sure to have a holiday to remember for all the right reasons.

Hawaiian Holiday

Weather in the islands is wonderful most of the time, in the winter season there are slightly cooler temperatures. The rain if there is any, falls in the afternoons when its time for a siesta! The locals used to living in warmth all the time are very sensitive to drops in temperatures; dress in warmer clothes for the occasion. For those of us not used to being warm all the time it is not an issue. I usually take something to slip on if I feel cooler but have never used the jacket. The weather is always relative to your perceptions!

Waikiki Beach is one of the draw cards to Honolulu and Hawaii. From being a beach babe, to learning how to use a surfboard should be part of your day. The waves at the beach are generally easy to learn surfing on and enjoy the experience. There are all sorts of tours and activities to do if you can get yourself from the horizontal position on the beach! Kayaking springs to mind and is really worthwhile doing.

I love the Oceanarium; this massive aquarium is three stories high. It has 280,000 gallons of water, best of all you can dine right next to the aquarium and enjoy a meal while watching the fish. Of course being Hawaii there is added entertainment by divers and the fish feeding times. The fish are fed six or seven times a day, so find out what time suits you and be delighted by the activity. There are over 70 species of fish to get acquainted with, watch as they live in their reef environment with out getting wet!
Something for the more adventurous is the hike up Diamond Head. Seeing the head from Waikiki beach encapsulates the fact that this is Hawaii. Do this hike in the early part of the day to avoid the ever present heat as much as possible, and do take water with you. It is something else to stand on the top of Diamond Head and look back across to Waikiki and views of the island.

A day finished with a dinner cruise I think is a must. There are varying prices and you can pick up a very reasonably priced cruise from any of the booths, stalls or tourist shops. You are spoilt for choice. Certainly watching the sun set while aboard the catamaran was very nice, but for me the sight of dolphins chasing the boat, created a wonderful memory. Try a Hawaiian holiday and allow yourself to succumb to its charms.
